Alstom to equip Shuakhevi hydropower plant
Georgia, Shuakhevi: The Consortium led by Alstom has been awarded a contract worth around € 30 million ($ 41 million) to equip the 2x89.3 MW Shuakhevi hydropower plant in Georgia, writes Penn Energy. According to the contract, Alstom’s share is valued at around € 20 million ($ 27 million).

Georgia, Shuakhevi: The Consortium led by Alstom has been awarded a contract worth around € 30 million ($ 41 million) to equip the 2×89.3 MW Shuakhevi hydropower plant in Georgia, writes Penn Energy. According to the contract, Alstom’s share is valued at around € 20 million ($ 27 million).
The Consortium includes Alstom India Ltd, Alstom Power ve Ulaşim A.Ş. (Alstom Turkey), GES Genel Elektrik Sistemleri Yapım ve Mühendislik A.Ş. (GES Turkey) and GES Georgia Limited Company.
Within large scope of the contract, Alstom will supply and install 2 three-phase generator step up transformers and 220 kV gas insulated switchgear amongst other equipment.
The Shuakhevi hydro power project is part of one of the largest foreign investment projects in Georgia to date with the aim to supply Georgia and Turkey with renewable energy to meet the electricity demand during winter.
It is the first project among the three, planned and developed by Adjaristsqali Georgia LLC, Consortium of Clean Energy Invest AS, Tata Power Company Ltd. and the International Financing Corporation. The power plant will have an installed capacity of 178.6 MW and will be commissioned in 2016.
