The improvements on the energy grid will include upgrading power transformers, poles and wires in communities, reports Daily Iowegian. “These projects will involve installing new equipment and making the system stronger.” spokesperson for Alliant Energy, Justin Foss, stated.

Alliant Energy investments since 2010, have helped to reduce outages by 22 %. When an outage does happen, the time it takes to restore the power has been reduced by 16 %. Last year, the company spent $ 170 million in improvements.

The upgrades will also contribute to the economic development as businesses can expand or construct quicker due to already functional energy grid.
