50 MVA power transformer at grid station Khunmoh

Jammu and Kashmir: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, inaugurated 132 / 33 kV power transformer of Khunmoh grid station on 23 May.

The commissioning of the transformer will augment the capacity of the grid station from 50 MVA to 100 MVA.

The 132 / 33 kV Khunmoh grid station was constructed under VPMRP-2005 and commissioned in 2009 with the capacity of 50 MVA to cater to the industrial areas of Khunmoh and Khrew. Now, with the induction 132 / 33 kV transformer, the capacity of the grid has been augmented to 100 MVA.

The project was completed at a cost of $832,000 (Rs6.33 crore).

Besides dependable power supply to the consumers of the area, the increased availability of power will give boost to industrialization.

Also, the augmentation of Khunmoh grid station shall provide a big relief to the overloaded Pampore grid station,  which will also improve the availability and quality of power in large areas of Pulwama and Srinagar districts.

‘It will also benefit  SIDCO Phase I, SIDCO Phase II, SIDCO Phase III, Khunmoh Police Colony Zewan, Cement Plants in and around Khrew,’ Chief Engineer, Hashmat Qazi informed.
