Spain, Vigo: The transformer substation in San Pedro is due to be shut down on the 30th May and the new facility in Madalena will provide power supply to Cangas, Moaña and Bueu as well as Seixo in Marín from the 1st June.

The project began in 2004 and its last phase started in December last year. By mid-April, the new substation will connect to high voltage line coming from Lourizán and power transformers will be installed.

The work has been divided into two parts. The first part entails transfer of power lines from San Pedro to the new location, the work worth € 2 million ($ 2.8 million) invested by Xunta de Galicia and Cangas Council.

The second part involves the construction of the substation itself and installation of transformers, located in the vicinity of Madalena. The work will be undertaken through another agreement between Xunta and Fenosa and is worth € 7 million ($ 9.7 million). Almost all investment is financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Operational Programme 2007-2013.

All parties have expressed satisfaction with the results of the agreement..
