Underground transformer explosion causes power cuts in Honolulu

Hawaii, Honolulu: Several hundred Hawaiian Electric Company customers had power supply cut off after the power transformer explosion.

Hawaii, Honolulu: Several hundred Hawaiian Electric Company customers had power supply cut off after the power transformer explosion.

A blast from the explosion was heard from a manhole around 10 a.m., reports Star Advertiser. Apparently, a power transformer blew up and caused an underground explosion according to police.

The firefighters requested assistance after arriving at the scene. They reported that no one was injured in the incident. Darren Pai, Hawaiian Electric Company spokesman said about 300 hundred customers were left with no power supply. The incident is being investigated.
