Areva and Schneider Electric to develop offshore wind power in France

France: Areva has announced it has joined forces with Schneider Electric which will be the supplier of power equipment for Areva's offshore wind projects.

France: Areva has announced it has joined forces with Schneider Electric which will be the supplier of power equipment for Areva’s offshore wind projects.

This will include the wind farm of 100 5 MW turbines in the bay of Saint Brieuc, and tenders for the offshore wind farms at Le Tréport and islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier in Pays de la Loire.

According to the agreement, Schneider Electric will supply transformers and circuit breakers for Areva’s wind farms. The power transformers will be manufactured at two of Schneider Electric’s French industrial sites, located near Metz and Grenoble.

The wind farms will contribute to France meeting its targets laid down in the EU’s Climate and Energy Package and firmly establish a French sector of excellence for a promising technology.
