Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) has started construction on the Mark Twain Transmission Project, a 345 kV transmission line and substation being built in northeast Missouri.

The $250 million project started with ATXI breaking ground last week on the site of the new Zachary Substation in Adair County, Missouri adjacent to the existing Adair Substation, reports Daily Energy Insider.

“When it’s complete, the project will provide multiple benefits to the people of northeast Missouri and the greater region. These project benefits include economic growth, increased tax revenue, greater energy reliability and improved access to renewable energy sources, such as wind,” said Shawn Schukar, chairman and president of ATXI.

The anticipated in-service date for the Mark Twain Transmission Project is December 2019.
