Russia, Smolensk: Smolenskenergo will build new transformer substation in Milovidovo to provide quality power supply to the new housing complex in the southern part of Smolensk.

Apart from the intensive housing construction, there are plans in the near future to construct schools, culture centres, shopping centres and entertainments complexes. This will entail a significant increase in power consumption in Milovidovo. The settlement is currently powered from a single 110 kV substation substation Yuzhnaya which is fully loaded. The extension of the substation is not possible because of the buildings around it.

To resolve the problem and meet the growing electrical demands of industrial and other consumers of the city as well as improve power supply reliability and quality of electricity to the existing customers,  a new 110 kV substation will be build.

Construction of the new 110 kV Milovidovo substation is scheduled for 2014-2015 . The total cost of construction is 385 million rubles, including design and survey works, reports RusCable.

Two 25 MVA power transformers will be installed to connect all the planned consumers as well as transfer the existing loads from the Yuzhnaya substation.
