France, Bouchain: Today, a giant power transformer will be transported to the site of the EDF gas-fired combined-cycle plant in Bouchain.

The massive  300-tonne power transformer  will be transported to the plant on the back of the truck nicknamed ‘millipede’, reports La Voix Du Nord. With the convoy being exceptionally slow, the traffic delays are expected.

According to the EDF, the transformer will be shipped from Austria. It will be lifted by crane and placed on a special train consisting of a self-propelled trailer, dubbed ‘millipede’. The convoy will then head to the EDF site where the transformer is being delivered to.

Traffic will be interrupted for a few hours today, especially between the docks and the EDF site.
