Lenenergo to upgrade substation from early 20th century in St. Petersburg

Russia, St. Petersburg: Lenenergo will reconstruct the Volkhov-Yuzhnaya substation in the Kirov district of St. Petersburg, which was built in the early 20th century.

Russia, St. Petersburg: Lenenergo will reconstruct the Volkhov-Yuzhnaya substation in the Kirov district of St. Petersburg, which was built in the early 20th century.

The company will build two new housing facilities for six 63 MVA power transformers and replace the switchgear, reports Itar-Tass. Then, Lenenergo will install new relay protection and automation system.

One of the important tasks in the reconstruction of the power facility is to strengthen the foundation of the substation historic building.

“Large-scale reconstruction will greatly enhance the reliability of power supply and allow new customers to connect to the network.” said the Lenenergo press service.
