China: Alstom’s very first 800 kV HVDC converter transformer passed factory acceptance tests (FAT) in Shandong, China.

China: Alstom’s very first 800 kV HVDC converter transformer passed factory acceptance tests (FAT) in Shandong, China.
This converter transformer, the highest voltage level yet for Alstom, will enable State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) to power part of the Jinping to Sunan 2,090 km long UHVDC power link. The link will transport clean hydropower from generating stations in central western China across to the industrialised coastal area in eastern China.
The transformer was designed by Alstom Grid’s leading HDVC experts, based in Stafford, UK and engineers working out of Alstom’s Wuhan factory in eastern central China. All the critical materials were supplied by Alstom and the production at SPECO was also supervised by Alstom.
