China, Shijiazhuang: The 1,000 kV ultra-high voltage power transmission project between Xiongan and Shijiazhuang in China’s Hebei Province went into operation on Tuesday.

The project laid the foundation for a 100-percent clean energy supply to the Xiongan New Area, according to the State Grid Hebei Electric Power Supply Co., Ltd.

With an investment of $500 M (3.44 B yuan), construction on the project began in March 2018. The line passes four cities and 13 counties and districts in Hebei.

The project has been connected with multiple ultra-high voltage power transmission projects in northern China, so that clean energy such as wind and solar power generated in other areas can be transmitted to Xiongan.
