Reconstruction of Kurakhovka power station Unit 9 starts

Ukraine, Kurakhove: Unit 9 of Kurakhovka power station was shut down for reconstruction yesterday.

“Reconnection of the unit to the power system of Ukraine is planned in March 2015. Expected investment in the project will amount to approximately UAH 600 million USD ($ 53.8 million).” It was said in a statement. Elektronaladka engineering company will be running the reconstruction.

According to the project, power transformer and other electrical equipment, turbines and generator will be replaced in Unit 9. The upgrade project will help to reduce emissions in the atmosphere to comply with the European Directive 2001/80/EC, reports Delo.

The reconstruction of the unit will enable power increase by 10 MW-220 M. Unit 9 was commissioned in 1975, and it will be the fifth reconstruction in the Kurakhovka power station.
