Argentina: Argentina’s power generator Central Puerto S.A. has started commercial operation of its new Luján de Cuyo cogeneration plant.

Luján de Cuyo commenced operations in October, seven weeks earlier than the previously assigned startup date of November 22. The addition of the 95 MW combined-cycle gas-fired plant will increase Central Puerto’s consolidated installed capacity to 4.2 GW.

The cogeneration plant is powered by two Siemens SGT5-800-54 gas turbines with corresponding heat recovery steam generators, according to the Central Puerto project notice. The electricity is transmitted to a 132 kV transformer station at Luján de Cuyo.

The plant will produce under a 15-year power purchase agreement with CAMMESA taking the energy. The steam produced will be allocated to a private off-taker.
