USA: Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois announced the completion of a $267 M power transmission line that enabled the development of certain wind projects in Missouri.

The subsidiary of Ameren Corporation has energised the 154.5 km Mark Twain Transmission Project, which travels west from Palmyra to Kirksville, Missouri then north to the Iowa border. The project includes the Zachary substation in Adair County and forms part of a multi-state group of transmission projects known as Multi-Value Projects.

“In addition to making the energy grid more reliable and promoting renewable and affordable energy such as wind, it will meet energy needs not only for today but well into the future,” said Shawn E. Schukar, chairman and president of ATXI.

An example of a wind project that was enabled by the new transmission line is a 400 MW park built by an affiliate of Terra-Gen LLC in Adair and Schuyler counties.
