Germany: The German government agreed to pump $69 B into modernizing its rail network system, as part of a wider plan to incite commuters to opt for greener public transport options.

Besides the massive sum stumped up by the state German rail operator Deutsche Bahn will also plow an additional $27 B into the renewal programme.

The investment will help with modernising Germany’s energy supply systems, tracks, railway stations, and signal boxes.

The investments will go towards “replacing obsolete installations”, improving access to disabled passengers as well as renovating rail bridges.
