France, Levallois-Perret: Alstom has finished constructing the thirteenth power transformer and the final one ordered by Sveska Kraftnat.

The power transformer order was for the company’s $ 340 million Swedish project, South West Link, which will connect Barkeryd in central Sweden to Hurva in southern Sweden using Alstom’s HVDC technology. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014, EBR reports.

The power transformer was built by Alstom in collaboration with the VSC technology, which will be used in the converter stations. The 205-tonne transformer was built at Alstom’s transformer manufacturing unit in Stafford.

Alstom will also supply HVDC converter stations at both ends of the power line, as well as control and protection, converter transformers, switchyard equipment, construction and project management services.
