Chile: Abengoa has been selected by Transelec for the expansion of a 220 kV electrical substation, whose works are part of the expansion plan of the Chilean national transmission system.

Abengoa is an international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructures, energy and water sectors, and Transelec is one of the main providers of electric transmission in Chile.

The project is part of the expansion plan of the country’s national transmission system.

The works, which will take place near the city of María Elena, in the Antofagasta region in Chile, will consist of the expansion of two thirds of the diagonal of the substation and the widening of two connection points to the interconnection of the Chilean national system.

Abengoa will be responsible for the engineering review, partial acquisitions, construction, assembly, and commissioning of the substation.

With this award, Abengoa consolidates its leadership position in the energy distribution sector, in which it has built more than 27,000 km of lines and more than 330 substations worldwide.
