India, Mumbai: Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd has recently commissioned a 220 kV variable shunt reactor (VSR) at its Gorai EHV substation.

With this, as the power utility has said in a statement, AEML is one of the first utility in India to install a 220 kV, 48-120 MVAr variable shunt reactor.

The variable shunt reactor is an innovative technology equipped with tapped windings and on-load tap changer (OLTC). This enables AEML to regulate up to 100 percent of its reactive power rating and optimize operation of the reactor, AEML said.

With real time reactive power compensation, enhanced voltage regulation is being achieved at 220 kV level. This will help to maintain the grid voltage and continuously provide quality and reliable power supply to Mumbai’s consumers, the AEML statement added.
