MTE offers the most comprehensive product range for online monitoring of power transformers in the industry and consequently contributes toward extending the transformer’s lifespan as well as ensuring its customers a more secure high-voltage power transmission.

The new HYDROCAL genX product group is the first truly maintenance-free, multi-gas online DGA solution, combining proven near infrared (NIR) measuring technology with vacuum protected membrane extraction.

Experiences from the field and scientific studies show that hydrogen (H2) is involved in nearly every fault of the insulation system of power transformers and carbon monoxide (CO) is a sign of an involvement of the cellulosic/paper isolation while the presence and increase of acetylene (C2H2), ethylene (C2H4) and methane (CH4) further classifies the nature of a fault such as overheating, partial discharge or high energy arcing. With this in mind, the new HYDROCAL genX product group consists of the following two versions:

  1. HYDROCAL 1004 genX with individual measurement of hydrogen (H2), carbon monoxide (CO), acetylene (C2H2) and moisture in oil (H2O)
  2. HYDROCAL 1006 genX with additional individual measurement of ethylene (C2H4) and methane (CH4), providing further diagnostic tools such as Duval’s triangle or Dornenburg and Roger’s ratio

HYDROCAL genX units are easy to mount on the operating transformer valve (G 1½” DIN ISO 228-1 or 1½” NPT ANSI B 1.20.1) without any operational interruption.

Both HYDROCAL genX devices are maintenance-free systems due to significantly fewer movable parts (only two valves and one compressor).

The HYDROCAL genX devices are operated with a revolutionary, user-friendly software (directly in the HYDROCAL genX device and via PC) and an intuitive 7″ color TFT capacitive touch screen, WLAN and web server from any smartphone, tablet or notebook PC.

Both units offer communication interfaces such as:

  • ETHERNET 10/100 Mbit/s (copper-wired / RJ 45 or fiber-optical / SC Duplex),
  • RS 485 to support MODBUS® RTU/ASCII, MODBUSÒTCP,
  • Proprietary communication protocols,
  • DNP3 (optional) and
  • Substation communication protocol IEC 61850 (optional)
