Bolivia’s state power transmission company Ende Transmisión has launched bidding to develop the 500/230 kV Las Brechas substation.

The work is part of the 176 km, 500 kV Carrasco-Las Brechas transmission line and associated substations as part of the company’s 2019-21 strategic plan.

Offers for the contract – which entails the design, study, supply, construction, electromechanical installation, testing and startup – are due by August 10, according to the procurement notice. A $ 4,000 non-reimbursable deposit is required.

Carrasco-Las Brechas is part of a longer 500 kV link which includes the Santiváñez-Carrasco stretch and would run to the border with Brazil (route below in purple dotted line).

State power company Ende’s 500 kV project pipeline includes the 424 km Santa Cruz-Chaco line which is in the pre-investment study phase. The 132 kV Juana Azurduy de Padilla transmission line with Argentina also envisions operating at 500 kV.

Bolivia’s transmission network is composed mainly of 115 kV and 230 kV infrastructure with a smaller contribution of grid capacity at 69kV.
