Sofia, Bulgaria: Bulgaria’s Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday that it has signed a $4.6 M (€4.3 M) power substation upgrade deal with a tie-up comprising local companies Start Engineering and Rudin.

Both companies own 50 % interest in the tie-up, according to registry agency data.

The deal concerns the reconstruction and expansion of 400 kV power substation Maritsa East, located near three of the country’s main thermal power plants, ESO said in a notice.

The contract was signed on January 30, according to the notice.

Four bidders took part in the tender for awarding the contract.

The deal is part of a long-term framework agreement signed between the two parties in September 2019.
