Scotland, South Lanarkshire: A bull knocked a transformer box off an electricity pole while trying to scratch himself, resulting in a major power cut that affected 800 homes.

The bull, called Ron, was lucky to be alive after he somehow managed to avoid the falling transformer and 11,000 V of electricity, said the owner of the farm.

While the accident did not cause any harm to the bull, the residents in three nearby villages in South Lanarkshire were left without electricity for several hours. According to local reports, as many as 800 homes were affected by the mishap.

The incident happened between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on 7 May, and the power in the three villages was not restored until 4 a.m.

Following the incident, the owner of the farm posted an apology on her local Facebook group.

The engineers who arrived at the scene to install a new transformer were surprised by the damage. Now, local authorities are planning to put a fence around the pole.
