England, Rawmarsh: Thieves stole cable from an electricity substation in Rawmarsh during the evening of 27 July.

It was believed that between 4 p.m. and 5p.m. unknown individuals broke in to the Northern Powergrid substation in Rawmarsh and took the earthing cable.

Inspetor Caroline Bakewell said, “We are working hard to identify those responsible for the theft, but I also want to raise awareness of the dangers of entering electricity substations. ”

“People who attack substations are not only breaking the law, they are putting the safety of people, including themselves, at risk. High electricity voltage runs through these sites and there is a real risk of electrocution. ”

“This type of crime can also have a major impact on the community, including hospitals, who could be left with no electricity supply if cables are stolen.

“I would encourage anyone with any information about the theft to speak to us,” concluded Bakewell.
