Chile transmission firm wins $227 M in contracts

Chile: Chilean electricity transmission company Transelec was awarded four projects that will require combined investment of $227 M.

The initiatives correspond to two tendering processes held by grid coordinator CEN.

Details are the following: new 500 / 220 kV switching substation Parinas and new 2×500 kV line Parinas-Likanantai, both in Antofagasta region; new 220 kV substation JMA, in Biobío region; new 2×220 kV line Lagunas-Nueva Pozo Almonte, first line, in Tarapacá region; new 2×220 kV line Candelaria-Nueva Tuniche and S/E Tuniche 220 kV, in O’Higgins region.

Last month CEN said it would put out to tender contracts to build seven new substations and two lines and to expand three existing substations.
