Cranes for offshore substations

Dutch offshore lifting equipment provider KenzFigee has won a contract to deliver two electric hydraulic offshore cranes to an offshore substation topsides.

Scotland, Edinburgh: Dutch offshore lifting equipment provider KenzFigee has won a contract to deliver two 3 t electric hydraulic offshore cranes to be installed on an offshore substation topsides.

The 450 MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm will be located 15.5 kilometres off the Firth of Forth east coast of Scotland.

The wind farm, will comprise 54 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines expected to be fully operational in 2023.

KenzFigee was awarded the contract by HSM Offshore, in close collaboration with Iv-Offshore & Energy.

The heavy duty Ram Luffing design cranes will be fully identical. They have a box boom with a length of 12 meters, a SWL capacity of 3 t from deck as well as supply boat, KenzFigee said.

The cranes will be built, assembled and tested at the premises of KenzFigee in Zaandam, the Netherlands.

In June 2020, they will be shipped to the construction yard of HSM Offshore in Schiedam for installation on the offshore substation topsides of the Neart na Gaoithe project, currently under construction at HSM Offshore.
