USA, Massachusetts, Marlborough: Doble Engineering Company and SynchroGrid have announced a joint solution that enables power and utility companies to efficiently manage power system relay protection settings and help ensure compliance with NERC PRC-027-1.

NERC PRC-027-1, which goes into effect in 2021, requires utilities to establish a consistent process for developing relay settings, performing periodic wide-area coordination studies and conducting in-depth examinations of the short circuit case information.

The new joint solution features an application programming interface that connects relay settings data from Doble PowerBase™  to SynchroGrid’s SARA (Setting Automation Relay Assistant). SARA utilises relay settings from Doble PowerBase in templates that also extract system model data from ASPEN OneLiner™ and PSS®CAPE to auto-calculate faults and generate a relay setting file and reports for compliance documentation. The integration reduces the time power engineering staff spend on settings calculations, eliminates errors from copying and pasting data points, and makes it easier for engineers to quickly identify and address non-compliant settings.
