Spain, Andalucia: Engie is building two wind farms in Cadiz, Andalucia, with a total installed capacity of 37 MW. The sites are expected to enter into operation during the second quarter of 2025. The wind farms, names Cerro Cabello and El Patron, are located in the town of Los Barrios, and will help create between 140 and 200 direct jobs.

The projects incorporate strict biodiversity protection measures, such as access roads and firebreaks, to guarantee sustainable and environmentally friendly development. Engie already has an installed capacity of around 1700 MW of renewable assets in Spain including wind farms, solar and mini-hydro plants, and it aims to strengthen its commitment to Andalusia, where it also has the Meridion solar park in the Seville town of Huevar Del Aljarafe, with a total installed capacity of 72 MW.

Loreto Ordonez, CEO of Engie in Spain, said: “At Engie, we are committed to leading the energy transition through innovative projects that not only reduce carbon emissions, but also boost the economic and social development of local communities. The construction of these two new wind farms in Cadiz exemplifies our vision, commitment and dedication to transform the way energy is sourced and managed, thus reinforcing our continued commitment to Andalusia.”
