USA, Connecticut, Waterbury: In an effort to provide reliable power to customers, Eversource is investing $12 M in electricity system upgrades on Waterbury’s north side.

The project that will be executed in phases through 2025 involves the installation of improved poles, new overhead electric lines resistant to extreme weather and seven new reclosers. The upgrades will also make the 65-year-old substation redundant, so it will also be removed.

“This project will create several ‘automatic zones’- areas with equipment that can quickly reroute power if there is a problem – which will enhance electric reliability so customers have dependable service,” said Steve Sullivan, president of Connecticut Electric Operations at Eversource. “By continuing to make strategic investments in the system, like these in Waterbury, we’re building a more robust and resilient electric grid that will serve our customers well into the future.”
