Fire breaks out at Nagarjuna Sagar power plant

India, Telangana: A fire broke out at Nagarjuna Sagar hydroelectric power station on 4 January in the early morning hours.

No causalities were reported as the staff who noticed the fire escaped from the area.

According to reports, a sudden fire broke out from a transformer outside the hydropower plant while power was being generated at the main hydropower plant.

Officers on duty immediately tried to extinguish the blaze. The fire was brought under control in a timely manner as the fire brigade rushed to the spot after the officers informed them of the situation. They immediately extinguished the fire and luckily the major accident have been averted. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The full details of the incident are yet to be known.

In a similar incident in August 2020 nine people were dead when massive fire erupted in Srisailam power plant in Nagarkurnool In August 2020. Nine people including five engineers and two technicians tragically lost their lives in that fire accident.
