Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt: GE signed a framework agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The idea behind this action is to collaborate on a plan aiming to support climate change and energy security. Director-General of IRENA Francesco La Camera and Chief Sustainability Officer of GE Roger Martella signed the agreement.

Cooperation across important topics such as decarbonisation, adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy are the key component of this collaboration. COP27 provides the right context and platform for the agreement to move forward. The main activity that follows will be the joint exploration of decarbonisation of critical markets and sectors, including onshore and offshore wind, bioenergy with CCUS, hydro, green hydrogen, and more. The organizations plan to collaborate on identifying thought leadership, events, and knowledge exchange opportunities with strategic stakeholders and partners to promote the continued growth of the renewables sector.
