India: In order to fulfil the renewable power purchase obligation and to meet the future requirements of Discoms, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has invited bids from developers to supply up to 500 MW of solar power under Phase VIII.

The projects shall be awarded through international competitive bidding followed by reverse auction.

Bidders shall have to choose the locations and substations for their proposed solar power project from a list available on the website of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO).

A developer can submit only a single application, subject to minimum bidding for 25 MW.

The successful bidders shall set up solar power projects including the transmission network up to the delivery Point at their own cost. However, the selection of projects would be technology agnostic within PV technology, which means crystalline silicon, thin film, etc—with or without trackers—can be installed.

Bidding closes on March 7.
