Croatia, Končar: Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Končar Elektroindustrija announced that its unit Končar Instrument Transformers has delivered the first set of environmentally friendly transformers to the Latvian power transmission system operator Augstsprieguma Tikls (AST). The delivery included 20 110 kV power transformers, aiming to support the newly developed 60 MW Jaunolaine substation.

The delivery is important for the construction of Latvia’s most extensive solar power plant to date and is one of the Baltic nation’s initial forays into large-scale renewable energy generation. The value of the deal wasn’t disclosed. Končar also plans to send more instrument transformers to Latvia within the next 14 months, designed for voltage levels of up to 362 kV and mostly featuring biodegradable liquid insulation from its eco-conscious green line series.
