Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek: Built by a Chinese company, the Datka-Kemin 500 kV power transmission project has provided a more convenient access to electricity.

For years, uneven power distribution and patchy supply have hindered economic and social development in Kyrgyzstan.

The Datka-Kemin transmission line enables Kyrgyzstan to transmit electricity from a hydropower base in the southwest to an electricity consumption center in the capital city of Bishkek in the northeast, without routing through Uzbekistan as older infrastructure did. The project has helped Kyrgyzstan to secure a long-pursuing “independent power grid.”

According to the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan, the new transmission line will also save Kyrgyzstan a lot annually in transit fees.
