Brazil: Sudene has authorised a loan package for two wind projects with a combined capacity of 45 MW from EDF Renewables.

Brazil’s Superintendency for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) has authorised a BRL184.5 million ($37.8 million/€34.6 million) loan package for two wind projects with a combined capacity of 45 MW from EDF Renewables. The governmental agency announced that the disbursement comes from Sudene’s Northeast Development Fund (FDNE) and will be used for the construction of the 27 MW Serido III and the 18 MW Serido VI wind projects. The latter is part of Amazon’s first wind farm in the country. The two projects will require BRL307.5 million ($63 million/€57 million) in investments.

The wind parks will be part of the 247.5 MW Serido Wind Complex, located in the northeastern states of Paraiba and Rio Grande do Norte. The complex will consist of 10 SPEs, expected to be capable of generating enough power to satisfy the needs of 700,000 families. The wind complex will have a 45 km transmission line to interconnect with the collector substation under the responsibility of the local unit of Neoenergia Santa Luzia Transmissao de Energia S.A.
