UK, Scotland: Ocean Winds has achieved first power at the 882 MW Moray West offshore wind farm located in the Moray Firth off northern Scotland. The initial group of wind turbines at the project has delivered power to the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS).

The project will be fully operational in 2025, and the first turbine was installed in April. After installation of all foundations, the offshore substations and array-cables, the remainder of the turbine components are currently being pre-assembled at the Port of Nigg ahead of offshore installation. Construction work is being completed on the second circuit at the onshore substation.

“With two more projects in development in the United Kingdom and Moray East already operating, we are proud to take an active and growing part in the United Kingdom’s energy transition,” remarked Bautista Rodriguez, chief operating officer of Ocean Winds.

Ocean Winds is a partnership between EDP Renovaveis SA and Engie SA, while a small minority stake in the project is held by UAB Ignitis.
