USA, Missouri, Cape Girardeau: A multi-million dollar power infrastructure project in Southeast Missouri hopes to lay the groundwork for high profile development.

Ameren Missouri installed two transformers at Cape Rock substation in Cape Girardeau.

The $12.5 M project uses smart technology that Ameren said will better detect when outages occur.

They said it also helps fix problems more efficiently.

The power company said this project will benefit new developments on the north side of the city.

“This project is needed to relieve the heavy wintertime energy load on the distribution system that powers the lives of our customers. When this project is complete, it will provide enough power to power 73 other homes and businesses,” Ameren Division Director Russell Burger said.

The project is set to be completed in December 2020.
