PechoM Continues On-Site Noise Measurements for TEIAS

PechoM has started its annual transformer noise measurements this year in Türkiye Electric Transmission A.S (TEIAS) transformer centers as it has been doing for 4 years. TEIAS is the operator of the high voltage transmission system - Energy Transmission Line / ENH - (system) in Türkiye. The noise measurements are carried out for 6 transformers in 4 different locations and in 5 different transformer centers.

PechoM has started its annual transformer noise measurements this year in Türkiye Electric Transmission A.S (TEIAS) transformer centers as it has been doing for 4 years. TEIAS is the operator of the high voltage transmission system – Energy Transmission Line / ENH – (system) in Türkiye. The noise measurements are carried out for 6 transformers in 4 different locations and in 5 different transformer centers.

On-site noise measurements for transformers and reactors are made to study the time-dependent noise change on transformers and the measurements are made since 2018 by PechoM.

The noise measurements are also made by considering the air temperature difference, relative humidity, wind effect and transformer cooling and oil circulation status.

The measurement process consists of three stages. In the first stage, the transformer on which the measurement will be made is deactivated and, in the meantime, background noise measurement is performed around the transformer. A circumference is determined around the transformer according to BS EN (IEC) 60076 standard. Measurement points are determined at 1/3 h and 2/3 h height of the transformer, 1 meter away from transformer tank and at 1-meter intervals.

In the second stage, the transformer is energized, and measurements are carried out according to the standard. Measurements are done with Class-1 type handheld noise analyzer and a tripod is used to prevent vibration and keep the microphone stable during measurements.

In the third and final stage, the transformer is deactivated again. A background noise measurement is made again from the points where the first background measurement was made. If there is a difference between the first measurement and the last measurement, specified in the standard, the measurement is canceled and repeated.

PechoM carries out transformer field measurements with its expert engineer staff and advanced technology equipment and offers guaranteed acoustic solutions to reduce noise in transformer fields.
