Peru, Lima: Engie Energía Perú (EEP) has finalized a deal with Cosapi for part of the power dispatch component of the $300 M, 260 MW Punta Lomitas wind project.

The Lima-based engineering and construction firm will be responsible for the medium voltage civil and electrical works, the power producer said in a regulatory filing.

Previously, EEP selected Abengoa to build the 220 kV, 63 km transmission line which will connect the plant to the national interconnected power system (SEIN).

Engie recently secured financing for Punta Lomitas which is planned for the southern region of Ica and will be the group’s first wind farm in Peru and the largest in the country.

The construction is expected to begin in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Energy and Mines Ministry approved a timetable modification request from Kallpa Generación to increase capacity of the Las Flores gas-fired plant to 282.35 MW from 183.6 MW.

Kallpa now has until 27 May 27, 2022, to put into operation the project, which entails the installation of a second generation unit with a steam turbine for the conversion to combined cycle.

The latest report from power grid coordinator COES shows that the scheduled start-up date of the new capacity was April 2022.
