President Buhari approves transformer production in Nigeria

Nigeria, Abuja: President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a world-class transformer production plant in Nigeria.
The production plant will be built in collaboration with China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC).
Mohammad Sani Haruna, executive vice chairman and CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has recently disclosed the information after a meeting with President Buhari.
He noted that the project has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic in China.
Construction of a new transformer manufacturing plant will contribute to the reliability of the power supply in Nigeria by improving the availability of locally produced components, including transformers.
The plant is planed with the capacity to produce 6.5–10 MW transformers of all sizes and different capacities, to meet local demands and the country’s standards.
