The Netherlands: The substation destined for the Seastar offshore wind concession completed its trip from Engie Fabricom’s construction yard in Hoboken, Belgium, to the Netherlands yesterday.

According to the company, the substation will be installed in the Belgian North Sea. The 487 MW SeaMade wind farm is a combination of the 235 MW Mermaid and the 252 MW Seastar offshore wind projects.

The first of the two substations was installed at the Mermaid concession at the beginning of March.

The substations will collect the electricity produced by 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW turbines, convert it from 33 kV to 220 kV, and export it into the grid via Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid.
