Teco constructing step-up transformer station for offshore wind farms
Teco Electric and Machinery held a ceremony for the construction of onshore electric facilities that will be used to support two offshore wind farms

Taiwan: Teco Electric and Machinery has recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of onshore electric facilities that will be used to support two offshore wind farms in central Taiwan.
The construction consists of onshore convergence of electricity generated by offshore wind turbines and transmission of the converged electricity to a step-up transformer station which will be connected with state-run Taiwan Power Company’s nearby transformer substations for being on power grids, Teco indicated.
The step-up transformer station will have the installation capacity of 600 MW, of which 100 MW will be on grid at the end of 2021 and 500 MW at the end of 2023, Teco said.
The construction also comes with an online system to remotely monitor and control the operation at the step-up transformer station and related facilities, Teco noted.
Partnering with Pacific Engineers and Constructors, a wholly owned subsidiary in Taiwan by US-based Bechtel Group, Teco is the general contractor for the project, Teco said.
