There were also nearly 600 outages in Winchester.
The Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department reported there was “a transformer fire and explosion” on Torrington’s West Street.
Harwinton firefighters said a call came in for wires burning near the Eversource substation on Litchfield Road.
“We responded and a passer-by reported seeing a fire in the substation, but nothing was showing upon our arrival. Eversource was notified. The scene is cleared at this time. Power appeared to still be on in the area.”
