USA, Knoxville: Tennessee Valley Authority to invest $30 M in a switching station and two 161 kV transmission lines.

The Tennessee Valley Authority will invest approx. $30 M to construct a switching station and two 161 kV transmission lines in order to increase power reliability in Christian and Todd Counties in Kentucky.

The new lines will be less than 16 km (10 miles) and use double-pole steel structures.

The power line project, expected to be constructed in fall 2025 and completed by spring 2026, is yet to receive approval from a National Environmental Policy Act.

TVA is investing $2.8 B in transmission system improvements across its service area and build about 3,800 MW of new generation, including combustion turbines, solar projects, combined-cycle natural gas, and energy storage through 2027.
