USA, Massachusetts: Avangrid, part of Spanish utility Iberdrola, has commissioned 10 turbines at the 806 MW Vineyard Wind 1 project, thus making it the largest operating offshore wind project in the USA. The project, which is a partnership between Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), is now delivering more than 136 MW to the Massachusetts grid, exceeding the capacity of the 130 MW South Fork offshore wind farm.

When completed, the project will have 62 turbines, with 47 foundations and 21 turbines having been installed at the site so far. The first 5 turbines provided 68 MW to the grid in February. The operating capacity will be increased with the commissioning of every additional turbine. Offshore construction began in late 2022, with the steel-in-the-water milestone achieved in June 2023.
