India, Gujarat: Voltamp Transformers Ltd said it expects to complete the construction of its new transformer manufacturing facility by July 2026. The company has identified land near Vadodara in Gujarat for a new manufacturing unit for transformers. The necessary approvals from government authorities are expected by October 2024. After getting requisite approvals, land purchase agreement will be executed, and construction work will begin. The completion of the facility is expected about 15 months later.

The company’s proposal is to construct a power transformer manufacturing plant with annual capacity of around 6000 MVA in the first phase. The facility will roll out transformers of up to 250 MVA capacity, in the 220 kV class. A capacity expansion could be undertaken in future, if required by market conditions. The capital outlay for the new unit is around INR 200 crore ($23.9 million), which will be financed through internal accruals.

As an increase in demand for electricity and transformers has been projected over the next 5 to 6 years period, it has become imperative to enhance manufacturing capacity. Voltamp currently has no space available for further expansion at its two factory locations, and has therefore decided to invest in a new manufacturing unit. Its two present facilities are located at Makarpura and Vadadla in Vadodara district.
