WEG acquires a transformer factory

WEG SA announces that it has entered into an agreement with TSEA for the acquisition of one of its transformer plants, located in Betim, Minas Gerais, in Brazil.

Brazil: WEG SA announces that it has entered into an agreement with the company Transformadores e Serviços de Energia das Américas SA (TSEA) for the acquisition of one of its transformer plants, located in the municipality of Betim, Minas Gerais state, in Brazil.

Built in 2013, the factory is located in 32,500 m² area and has the latest equipment and facilities. With a team of 250 employees, the unit is specialized in the manufacture of power transformers, shunt reactors and power autotransformers with voltage class up to 800 kV and power up to 500 MVA.

According to the superintendent of WEG’s Transmission & Distribution unit, Carlos Diether Prinz, “the acquisition of the Betim plant leaves WEG in a privileged position to meet the important investments in infrastructure that should occur in the Americas in the coming years.“

The transaction is subject to compliance with certain conditions and approval by the competition protection authorities (CADE).
