Italy, Montebello Vicentino/USA, Ohio: The Italian transformer manufacturer Westrafo has announced the future opening of a new North American production facility. The facility will be located in Trotwood, Ohio, joining the existing plants in Italy (Vicenza) and Ghana (Tema). This investment in the United States is an important step in the company’s internationalization strategy.

With an extension of 231.000 sqft the site will be built with the latest construction technologies in mind, aiming to become a point of reference for the production of medium voltage transformers and energy solutions in the US market.

The production is expected to start in July 2025, and the recruitment process will begin by the end of 2024. It’s expected to reach a production output of 12 GW per year starting from 2027, meaning it will contribute to meeting the demand for power distribution in the US.
