Work on HVDC station begins

Pakistan, Lahore: 1,300 MW clean power will be transmitted from Tajikistan to Pakistan during the summer season.

The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has kick-started construction work on HVDC convertor station for CASA-1000 Power Project at Azakhel Bala Nowshera in Pakistan.

According to a statement issued on 3 April, a signing ceremony was held at the site, wherein the project was taken over by the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor to start construction activities.

Energy Minister Omar Ayub lauded the efforts of the National Transmission and Despatch Company for implementing the project of international importance.

It is worth mentioning that under CASA-1000 project, 1,300 MW of clean power will be transmitted from Tajikistan to Pakistan during the summer season to help maintain the required voltage level and to meet the increasing load demand of the country.
